Programs & Services: Guidance, Support, Advocacy

Practical Guidance Combined with Emotional Support Advisors assist participants in designing and implementing a Self-Sufficiency Action Plan. Each individual’s unique experience and needs are addressed through this process.

Personalized support and encouragement is critical to participants as they overcome discouragement or feelings of being overwhelmed. Advisors help participants solve problems and secure needed resources.

Supportive Classes
PS-S offers a 13-hour (3 session) self-esteem class that was developed by local service providers and therapists.  Many program participants provide feedback that this class has been life changing for them.

Project Self-Sufficiency also offers a 10-hour (4 session) parenting class designed to focus on the special needs and challenges of single parents.

Advocacy
Advisors may assist participants to address difficulties with employers, landlords, academic institutions, immigration and other systems.
