assist participants in designing and implementing a Self-Sufficiency
Action Plan. Each individual’s unique experience and needs are
addressed through this process.
Personalized support and encouragement
is critical to participants as they overcome discouragement or feelings
of being overwhelmed. Advisors help participants solve problems and secure
needed resources.
Supportive Classes
PS-S offers a 13-hour (3 session)
self-esteem class that was developed by local service providers and
therapists. Many
program participants provide feedback that this class has been life
changing for them.
Project Self-Sufficiency also offers a 10-hour (4 session) parenting
class designed to focus on the special needs and challenges of single
parents.
Advocacy
Advisors may assist participants to
address difficulties with employers, landlords, academic institutions,
immigration and other systems. |

The empowerment of program participants to engage in self-advocacy.

Project Self-Sufficiency also seeks to prevent the continuation of
poverty from generation to generation through a series of interventions
that support and educate families while modeling successful behaviors
by adults for children.
