Community steps up to plate for nonprofitBy Sarah Bultema The nonprofit was given more than $36,000 in donations and pledges at its annual fundraising breakfast. “It went incredibly well,” said Mary Carraher, executive director of the agency. The nonprofit helps low-income, single parents around Larimer County achieve financial independence by helping them further their education, gain work experience and achieve personal goals. Currently, there are 63 applicants on the Loveland waiting list hoping to qualify for the services the nonprofit can offer, Carraher said. “We are continually bringing people in,” she added. The community donations raised through the breakfast will help the program serve more of these single parents through both the Loveland and Fort Collins offices. More than 200 people attended the fundraising breakfast, held at the Lincoln Center in Fort Collins. About $14,050 was given through cash and credit card donations. Another estimated $22,655 was donated in pledges. “We’re very pleased by that,” Carraher said. |
