Friends of PS-S
The Friends Group was formed in 2009 and works to provide support and assistance to the participants and staff of Project Self Sufficiency. The Friends Group meets monthly on the second Monday of each month from 4:30–6:00 P.M. in south Fort Collins.

The group helps in a variety of ways:
  • Assisting staff at events & fundraisers and with child care during self esteem, parenting & other classes offered by PS-S.
  • Making sure participants are remembered on holidays & their birthdays.
  • Contacting community businesses for donations to fill Mother's Day and Father's Day gift bags.
  • Offering an annual morning of fun & miniature golf for families & their children. Seeking community sponsorships to underwrite event and donations to fill participant goodie bags.

PS-S seeks mechanics and local area garages to assist in helping PS-S participants with basic car repairs and maintenance. Contact Susan@ps-s.org

Cars for Families

PS-S seeks individuals interested in helping the organization secure donated cars from individuals and car dealerships.   Donated cars directly benefit the single parents enrolled in the program.  Skilled mechanics are also needed to repair vehicles. Contact Susan@ps-s.org

Holiday Family Sponsorship

Each year businesses and individuals throughout the community sponsor our participants’ families for the holidays by purchasing gifts for the families.

Volunteers can help PS-S staff receive gifts from donors, inventory gifts, phone participants and distribute gifts to participants during designated pick-up times. Volunteer hours are needed in late November and early December. Contact Connie@ps-s.org.

Holiday Party

Also annually during the holiday season PS-S hosts a celebration for participants and their families. This event includes a visit from Santa Claus, gifts for the parents and much more.

Volunteers are needed helping organize and manage the ‘Parents Gifts’ area, event set-up, event clean-up and other appropriate tasks.  Time commitments average 3 to 4 hours in mid December. Contact Connie@ps-s.org.

Technology Assistance

PS-S needs expertise in web design, graphic design and case management software. Volunteers could act as consultants and implementers of new systems under the direction of agency management. Contact Kathyminer@ps-s.org.
